Taking A Look At The Lovely Port Dayot (Van Phong Bay) In Vietnam

During the French colonial times, Van Phong was called Port Dayot in the Van Ninh and Ninh Hoa areas.

Between the mainland and two islets, there is an 18 km long sand dune that has been developed through many years of erosion, providing a deep water anchorage that is completely protected from other components and a bay with an incredibly magnificent environment.

In especially during the northeast windy season from November to March, the dunes' outlying beaches make for undeveloped surf spots.

Taking A Look At The Lovely Port Dayot (Van Phong Bay) In Vietnam

Stunning natural scenery, fine-sand beaches, suitable temperate climate, and an environment surrounded by hills, mountains, and tropical forests are all features of this lovely terrain.

The sea in this area is dotted with coral reefs, decaying mangrove forests, and rare marine life.

Van Phong was designated as "the most significant region for tourism development" in the strategy for the year 2010 by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

Although there has been some growth, there is still very little in the way of water sports and diving tourism, which is why the large yachts and their billionaire owners and guests find Van Phong so appealing.

The Sea World Association now ranks Van Phong as being the best of the four seaside tourism destinations.

The bay offers other outdoor attractions besides water and reefs.

Van Phong supports hundreds of species of flora and wildlife and boasts stunning mountains, nearly unexplored woods, and wonderful beaches.

Following your water exploration, you can take a stroll along the white sand beach, go up a neighboring mountain, or go animal-watching in the nearby forest in the island.

In the fishing towns that dot the bay, you can spend the night in comfortable bungalows by the beach and dine on seafood with Vietnamese people.

Van Phong Bay In a Nutshell

Geographically, Van Phong Bay is located at the easternmost point of Vietnam, about 14 km from international waters and near to the intersection of major shipping lanes.

Blue and black marlins migrate via the east side of the South China Sea, where there is a vertical drop-off where they come to feed within 30 nautical miles.

With 41,000 hectares of water surface and a depth of 20-30 meters, Van Phong bay is relatively wave-free, despite the wind flowing over the dunes being ideal for wind-related water sports.

A beautiful setting, a moderate climate, and favorable weather conditions have made Van Phong a major aquaculture hub.

As a result, the beauty of Van Phong makes it a prime destination for nature lovers.

There is already a strong reputation for oyster and pearl farming in the region.

Hon Gom Island encircles the bay, comprising islets, peninsulas, beaches, and sand dunes.

Van Phong Bay is surrounded by mangrove and rain forests, creating a rich ecosystem.

Due to its particularly wild natural ecology, which is quite uncommon in Southeast Asia, Van Phong is considered one of the most spectacular and pristine locations in Vietnam.

With fine, white sand and a clear blue water, the beaches are broad and lovely.

Van Phong is the perfect destination for ecotourism because of its mild, all-year-round climate and nearly pristine, unpolluted environment.

With nearly equal travel times to the regional capitals, Van Phong is located in the heart of Southeast Asia.

Diving Paradise on Vietnam's Central Coast

The Van Phong Bay has been ranked as the best location for scuba diving, and United Nations tourism specialists have recognized it as one of Asia's most suitable settings for natural tourism.

Van Phong Bay is known for tourist destinations such as Bai Nhau, Hon Ong, and Dam Mon.

Hon Ong, often known as "whale island," is a wonderful place to unwind and take in the island's numerous stunning vistas and artifacts.

In Hon Ong, you can discover the fishing activities of the locals as well as the practices and traditions of the bay's minority populations.

There are also available water sports including sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, and snorkeling for additional enjoyment.

Other activities near Dam Mon include nighttime squid or cuttlefish fishing, rowing boats, and scuba diving to coral reefs.

You may explore the bay from Dam Mon by a speedboat as well.

To get to Dam Mon Village, you can alternatively cross the sand dunes.

You can linger there for a moment to discover how the local fisherman treat their boats' bottoms with chai, a substance formed from a plant, to make them watertight.

From the crest of the dunes, you can see the astonishing view of the sunset.

Arriving at Bai Nhau's Nhau Beach, where you may observe throngs of white and pink jellyfish swimming in the tranquil sea, takes around 45 minutes.

Additionally, you can snorkel your way to view the stunning coral reefs.

Conclusion

A few days spent in Van Phong will allow you to visit many of the surrounding islands, including Hon Lon, Hon Do, Ganh Da, Bai Lach, Bai Me, and Bai Ong Co, as well as fishing communities and aquaculture farms.

It is without a doubt one of Vietnam's most beautiful tourist spots.
